The Molina AS-197 Chalice is an exceptional Romanesque-style liturgical vessel featuring detailed representations of the Twelve Apostles around the cup and the traditional symbols of the Four Evangelists incorporated into the base.
Each Apostle is identified by his Latin name, giving the chalice a distinctive theological and artistic character. The richly sculpted ornamentation continues onto the base, where the symbols traditionally associated with Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John complete the design. Molina identifies the AS-197 as part of its Romanesque Collection.
Measuring approximately 7" high with a 4-15/16" diameter cup, the chalice has an approximate capacity of 14 ounces and includes a matching 6-1/4" scale paten with ring.

Twelve Apostles Design
The most distinctive feature of the AS-197 is its detailed treatment of the Twelve Apostles around the chalice cup.
Rather than using a simple decorative band, Molina incorporates the Apostles directly into the sculptural design and identifies them by their traditional Latin names. The result is a chalice with exceptional visual detail and strong theological symbolism.
Symbols of the Four Evangelists
The base of the chalice features the traditional symbols associated with the Four Evangelists, complementing the Apostolic imagery surrounding the cup.
Together, these elements give the AS-197 a particularly rich ecclesiastical character appropriate for churches seeking a substantial traditional chalice.
Available Metal Configurations
The Molina AS-197 is available in:
- Silver Plated
- Sterling Silver Inner Cup
- All Sterling Silver
This allows parishes to select the construction that best meets their preference and budget while retaining the same Romanesque design.
Matching Scale Paten Included
The AS-197 includes a matching 6-1/4" scale paten with ring.
The paten coordinates with the chalice and provides a complete altar vessel set suitable for regular parish use as well as solemn liturgical celebrations.
