Molina 2970 – Gothic Enameled Chalice & Paten

An extraordinary masterpiece of traditional Spanish ecclesiastical craftsmanship, the Molina 2970 Gothic Chalice combines exquisite hand-painted fire-enamel artwork, intricate engraving, and exceptional silversmithing in a truly distinguished sacred vessel. Handcrafted in Spain, this magnificent chalice reflects the rich artistic heritage of the Catholic Church and provides an exceptionally beautiful vessel for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The chalice features an elaborate Gothic design with finely detailed architectural ornamentation, intricate metalwork, and nine individually hand-painted fire-enamel panels depicting important figures and events from the life of Christ and the Catholic faith.

Exquisite Hand-Painted Enamel Artwork

The richly decorated base features six beautifully executed fire-enamel panels, portraying:

  • The Four Evangelists – Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the inspired authors of the four Gospels.
  • The Crucifixion – Christ's supreme sacrifice upon the Cross for the salvation of mankind.
  • The Ascension – The glorious return of the Risen Christ to His Heavenly Father.

The chalice cup is adorned with an additional three hand-painted enamel medallions depicting:

  • Jesus Christ – Our Lord and Savior.
  • The Blessed Virgin Mary – Mother of God and Mother of the Church.
  • Saint Joseph – Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Patron of the Universal Church.

These vibrant enamel panels contrast beautifully with the chalice's polished silver-toned surfaces, lending remarkable color, depth, and sacred significance to its traditional Gothic design.

Traditional Gothic Craftsmanship

The chalice features a beautifully proportioned stem and ornate central node, meticulously engraved with traditional Christian symbolism. The node includes the word "Agnus" (Lamb) and the Chi-Rho Christogram (PX), one of Christianity's earliest symbols representing Jesus Christ.

Expert engraving, detailed chasing, and precisely executed architectural ornamentation extend throughout the chalice, demonstrating the exceptional skill of Molina's master silversmiths.

The cup is lined with 24-karat gold, providing an appropriate precious-metal surface for the Precious Blood during the celebration of Mass.

Available with either a sterling silver inner cup or entirely sterling silver construction, the Molina 2970 represents an exceptional choice for cathedrals, parish churches, religious communities, and clergy seeking a truly distinguished sacred vessel.

Each chalice includes a coordinating 6¼" scale paten with ring, completing this magnificent liturgical set.
